I will not say much about the view because I can not tell what a picture can be and I had a lot of them. This is the most beautiful place we've been on our trip so far and is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. We really lucked out with the weather and it was a very clear day. You can see rows and rows of huge limestone hill rising out of the water. They look like ice limestone. In the morning when the tide is low, you can see how many rocks eroded from the sea, and it really looks like this is just floating on the water. Many great companies to go along with it, about 30 people on the boat, and we settle in a few days relaxing.
When we finally went to the Gulf, we'll be hanging out in, we were allowed to get off the boat and go swimming. Considering we are all on the top floor of the ship, which has three stories, the most obvious way to get into the water simply jump off the top. So we went away. Swim for a while and then come back to the boat to put on life jackets and board our kayaks. There is a nearby fishing village has adapted to profit from the tourism industry. They pull the kayaks on to our boat we visit the bay. We walked for about two hours in total, to see the fishing village and a cave, which had been formed by sea erosion of the limestone part. Fishing Village is not too much to sea, but the cave is quite brilliant.
It is not a huge cave, but it was great to find this in the middle of the ocean. Also, I'm really into the cave. Aly and Maryse was not nearly as impressed as I am. Then we stopped in the middle of the bay to watch the sun set, which is probably the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen. It went down nice and slow between two giant ice sheet, reflecting on the water in the middle. It did not hurt to be sitting in the middle of the ocean in a kayak or. At the time we were on the way back to the boat, it was dark out, and everything is sparkling ... literally. The light pollution from vessels and a few stars absolutely amazing. And the sparkling sea algae also because it lights up when disturbed. We kayaked along and just drug our hands together in
Maryse iwater behind us and saw a display beautiful light.
I dressed up for dinner, put my new suit to work, and it feels like a pretty fancy event. More than seafood, rice, pasta, salad and some nice preparation. Then, the night festivities began. All thirty of us played a few games together, have a few beers, and then hit the dance floor. I did not feel Swedish European music of our DJ was pumping, so Maryse and I headed up to the top floor to put on a pool chair and looked up at the stars. I thought she was going to kill me because of the fact that I can not stop saying how beautiful everything is all day, but the stars can not be described any other way, so I continued . We wandered for a while, re-joined the group for a while, then went to bed. It was a very late night and we had to wake up early the next day, so by bedtime I mean really going to have a nap for a few hours. A great day and night.
Almost as amazing as the next day. We woke up early for breakfast and fried bacon bread sticks prepared by the crew before moving on to a different boat. We leave for The Jolly Roger Prince She has brought us to Castaway Island. I went and talked to the captain and he let me drive the boat for a good 15 minutes. That's a big pirate ship steering wheel and I know where the horn is, so I was basically a professional. All you have to do is avoid a series of public iceberg. We arrived at our new house about an hour later, a beautiful beach on one of the limestone islands. There are about 6 huts, each in their 6 mattress, a restaurant / bar, and a bathroom. The rest is just a beach and a volleyball net. We've got all day to do whatever we want, swimming, volleyball, eating, and just relaxing. There are also many kayaks on the island that is free to use and you can just grab a partner and visit the bay. On the beach opposite our island is a rock climbing company to partner with our travel agency, so we can try kayaking and some climbing.
Maryse is a rock climber at home, so we set out to check it out. Aly climb climb quite high, and I tried one of the toughest on the beach, a 5.10D anyone know the scale climbing. There is about a 10-foot overhang at the top of it, which is why it has received an assessment so hard. I made it farther than three people in our group are really rock climbing so I was quite pleased with myself, but I still pulled off a climax. I stayed there for a long time, and cut my hand up pretty good in the process. I went down exhausted, but happy with the adventure.
After this, we kayaked back to our island, and along the way, we saw some of the deep water solo climbing. This is where you free climb a wall (or other wireless device safety) until you get as high as you want or fall off, and then just drop off into the sea below. Quite an adrenaline rush. We looked up and saw a girl about 40 feet before turning and jumping into the sea below. They have been doing this from a boat and did not want to chance Maryse from our kayak as she is not the best athlete, so we returned to the island and I switched her out for this guy Ian, from England, who at home rock climbing and has been down for the adventure. We did not get too far ... I do not think either of us had more than 6 or 7 feet, but we've had a trying time and I would definitely want to try again sometime. It helps to be in a boat because you can have dry hands and when you start to get a lift up to the wall. Balancing on top of a kayak is difficult with the water, and because the bottom of the eroded walls, it's quite a reach to even get up on the wall to start. We had our fun, then kayaked back, exhausted, beat up, and ready for dinner. Shower faster than a good BBQ. There is just about every meat and seafood you can think of rice and served with fries. Pretty good considering what is on the island to prepare flight it.halong Vietnam tour
After this, we settled in for a night out on the beach. Dan is traveling with a guitar, a harmonica along with people, and Irish guy named James who can sing, and Maryse broke a very beautiful voice, and we sat around a wooden house singing songs for a good amount of time. We played some games, swimming in the algae glow, relaxing on the beach and look at the stars, dance some more, a little skinny-dipping, and then repeat. It was quite a night. We had planned to stay until sunrise and water kayak out to see, but when 5:30 came around and the clouds plentiful with no signs of disappearing, we aim to bed. We had to wake up in two hours to catch a boat back to Jolly Roger, then back to Ha Long Bay to catch a bus to Hanoi.
The next day was uneventful. Just a bunch of really tired people traveling a long time. We have returned to the dorm, showered, ate dinner, and just relax. There is a large TV with about every movie you can think of it on your hard drive, so we see some Old School, and then Aly and I'm on my way back. A night train to Sapa. The first train of our trip, and this is a quite old, but both tired, so do not care about the bumps and jolts and fell asleep almost as soon as our heads hit the pillow. I have my book out, read on a page, and fell asleep. Because of this I left my book on the train in the morning. Obviously I like to forget things on the train, but thanks to Zach introduced. Moor's Last Sigh. The first three quarters of it is huge.
Anyway, I will talk about tomorrow Sapa. It's bedtime. Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommas, especially my own.
