Most visitors get a bus from Hanoi to Halong, before embarking on a boat trip of 2-3 days, where they can sleep on a junk boat, swimming and sailing in the waters kayak or rowing. But even the bargain trip is not bad, as you can quite happily spend your day looking at the beautiful scenery and give through the beautiful small boat you are sitting on.
