Horizon of the Northwest



On this trip tourists are offered a chance to not only visit beautiful landscape but discover the lives of people in mountainous areas as well. Such destinations are Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau and Sa Pa, which are not just placed in Vietnamese history but also well-known to tourists.

Day 1: Hanoi – Son La (-/L/D) 

In the morning, ODC Travel’ tour guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel and transfer to Son La town (320km) with stop for taking photos, experiencing hill tribes lifestyle. On the way, we stop in Mai Chau, the Lac and PomCoong villages are famous with Thai people for visit couple of hours, and have lunch with local food of them.

And then, keep travelling to Son La, takes photo with local people. 
Arrival in Son La, check in hotel and have free time.

Day 2: Son La – Dien Bien (B/L/D) 

In the morning, visit French Prison, Son La Ethnology Museum. Then transfer to Dien Bien (170km). On the way, stop for taking photos, visit some villages of Black Thai, and find out about some customary practices people here. VisitTuan Chau Market, Pha Din Pass (1300m). 
Have lunch in Tuan Giao and continue to Dien Bien. Check in hotel upon arrival.

Day 3: Dien Bien –Muong Lay-- Lai Chau (B/L/D) 

After breakfast, visit the most famous historical sites of Dien Bien including Dien Bien Phu Museum, Colonel Christian de Castries, Muong Thanh airport and Hill A1.
In the afternoon, transfer to Lai Chau town (120km). Have lunch in Muong Lay, and take boat trip along the Da river, the driver boat will take us around long vertical line, we can feel the features of the river & feeling the atmosphere of very well, beside that we can to look with great scenery, Song Da also offers a wild beauty & picturesque.
Arrival in Lai Chau, check in hotel Lan Anh 2 and free time.

Day 4: Lai Chau –Tam Duong- Sapa (B/L/D) 120km 

At the morning, take bicycle to discover some villages of Thai, Zay…Then take bus to Tam Duong, enjoy Tinh Waterfall, have lunch in Tam Duong. In the afternoon, transfer to Sapa. Stop to visiting Heaven Gate, the highest stretch of road in Vietnam as well as the provincial border of Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces. Enjoy fantastic view over the valley with barbecue of local people. After that, visit The Silver Waterfall is located about a half hour from Sapa town which offers stunning views over surrounding mountains and lush forests belonging to Hoang Lien National Park. You are advised to stop by a farm for a cup of tea and talk with people to understand their local life. Free time for walking around to discover Sapa town on your own, enjoy night market. Visitors can also join “Sapa Love Market” ( if it is Saturday).

Day 5: Sapa – Lao Chai – Ta Van – Cat Cat (B L)
The day is devoted to a beautiful hike through the breathtaking scenery of Sa Pa valley. Start by road that descends in the wake of the street Cau May (6 km) En route, admire the rice terraces hidden behind mist of the morning, a truly awe-inspiring sight.

Follow a small track and cross Muong Hoa River and pass well-tended rice terraces on your way to the Black Hmong village of Lao Chai. Continuing through the colorful rice terraces you will reach the village of Ta Van Giay. As you continue your trek along the Muong Hoa River you will cross a small suspension bridge, roughly 2km from the settlement. Here you can discover a fascinating collection of rock carvings. These engravings depict some beautiful images of man, stilt houses and some beautiful decorative patterns. After taking a rest, car is ready for your journey back to Sapa town for dinner and accommodation.

Day 6: Sapa – Hanoi (B/L/-) 

Transfer back to Hanoi after breakfast (400km). Enjoy the beautiful countryside along the way. Lunch en route. Drop off at your hotel upon arrival.
